Yep, the stars have decided it, no choice for me to be made. I'm a little disappointed, of course, but we'll see, perhaps in half a year's time I'll be happy.
Meanwhile it's getting hotter than ever, impossible to work before sunset. Luckily this job is tailormade for this summer.
And I'm enjoying Skype, finally I can talk for hours without having to pay money for it.
Oh yes, Italy won the World Cup, it was quite an interesting match, to say the least. I wish I was in Rome tonight, but no, here I am waiting for a translation.
It's gonna be a long night...

(Hot) Summer in the city

Yeah baby, it's hot. You can barely survive the days, in fact my strategy is to take a nap after lunch. Whether I had lunch or not.
Maybe I'm getting old, but I can only work and think at night. Wouldn't call it work yet, but perhaps with time.
Or maybe it's the global warming stuff again. The Mediterranean climate slowly crawling further up north, knocking on our doors...
But hey, I ain't writing this post to talk about meteorology!
Big dilemma time coming up. Can give no details, as usual, 'cause the ink isn't dry on any contracts yet.
So, here's the deal.
On the one hand we have the magic, the excitement, a ton of potential and if this project really comes to life, well, then it could be huge! The downside: yeah, almost no money at all.
On the other hand we have a lot less glamour, but more to learn and more people to guide, stability and the money...? Yep, you got it.
And the worst part is, I've been to this exact crossroads before. In retrospect, I think I did take the wrong decision then. I chose the money over the magic. Although that magic would have given me quite enough money too.
Of course I will never know how I would have felt had I chosen the other alternative.
And here we go again.
Should I go for the magic and take a gigantic leap of faith? To tell you the truth, I'm rather tired of it. 'Cause you keep telling yourself, this time it's gonna be the real thing... but it never is.
Or should I finally grow up and take the safer path?
Thing is, I'm probably afraid of losing the last chance of magic.
But I keep forgetting, and this is my more mature side speaking, that I could create my own personal magic just by finishing that book I started writing three years ago.
Gotta go now, the sun will soon set, there's a little wind, I'm alive again! (Feeling a little vampire-ish, 'cause of this "sleep by day, live by night" thingie, but what the hell!)

It's harder than you thought
And I've almost had enough of it. I'm not talking about the football world cup, soccer for some of you, 'cause I still think Italy has a chance. We're in the middle of the match right now, so I'm a little optimistic.
But the rest, I mean on the job front... Huu, when will I learn not to trust people? It's incredible what they think they can afford themselves.
Anyway, hope to fix things this week, please keep your fingers crossed. Otherwise this time I will definitely move to another planet and see ya!
Meanwhile, just to see the bright side of life, I'll start a new tradition: the week's movie recommendation.
This week: Man on Fire. Denzel is incredible, Christopher Walken is definitely in my top 10 and Mickey Rourke in unrecognisably handsome. See it, rent it, whatever, it's a Must.
And the tomatoes on my balcony are coming along just fine :)
